Who we are

We are the only full-chain agricultural innovation centre in the UK, focussed on supporting commercially viable agriculture solutions and driving their adoption. We work alongside food producers, SMEs, industry, government and world-class research institutions to accelerate impactful agri-tech innovation.

A world-leading agri-innovation centre

Our vision is to become a world-leading agri-innovation centre, focussing on agri-systems that sustain the environment, the economy and society.

Through strengthening the connections between science, industry and policy to accelerate agri-tech initiatives and growth, we are committed to investing in the right people, research and technology to discover new ways to help transform UK food and farming.

Providing new growth opportunities

Our purpose is to enable innovative and resilient agri-systems that adapt to ever-changing global challenges affecting agriculture and its partner industries, positively impacting the planet and driving economic growth.

We aim to provide new opportunities for organisations supplying agricultural markets, to ensure a long-term future for proactive UK farmers and to help guarantee the availability of nutritious and affordable food for all.

Discovering, developing and delivering

How will we do this? Our aim is to discover, develop and deliver scientifically robust and commercially viable agri-innovation in collaboration with science communities, industry and government. Our projects drive the adoption of sustainable, progressive circular agri-systems through:

  • Joining the dots of existing excellence and investment in new innovative resources and research that doesn’t currently exist
  • Addressing challenges that not one part of the sector can address alone
  • Opening up opportunities for transformational change
  • Positioning the UK as a global leader in sustainable food production

An important voice for the future of agriculture

By working across Government departments such as the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), we can also help leverage funding opportunities and offer a voice for our members to help ensure important industry issues are addressed.

Unparalleled support - unique, independent, unbiased

Established in 2024, the UK Agri-Tech Centre was formed through the merger of three agri-tech centres: Crop Health and Protection Centre (CHAP), Centre for Innovation in Livestock (CIEL) and Agricultural Engineering Precision Innovation Centre (Agri-EPI).

Together, we offer unparalleled support to propel agri-tech solutions to market, promoting agri-system circularity, improved adaptability and sustainability.

Part-funded by Innovate UK* our work benefits the whole agricultural supply chain, the UK economy and beyond.
